MBWA - Healthy, Wealthy, and Wise

Management by Walking Around is the healthy, wealthy, and wise choice for the ages. Well, at least in 2008 as stress increases with more to do and economic stress. According to the Moores Cancer Center at UCSD, committing to daily physical activity is an important preventative measure for cancer. Their web site states: "Aim for at least 10,000 steps each day, including moderate intensity activity such as brisk walking. Wear a pedometer to help you monitor your steps. (breast, lung, prostate, colon, endometrial cancers)." With more to do, many of us find it harder and harder to find the time to exercise. Management by Walking Around keeps us active and away from our desks at least a part of the time and will supplement other activities.

Its also a wise choice because it helps us get more done. Brief social and professional interactions refresh the mind and spirit. Studies have also shown the attention doesn't hurt in reminding our colleagues of our agendas while taking the time to genuinely listen to theirs. Push the chair back from the keyboard, stop sending emails to people across the hall, and spend a few minutes to get up and interact with them.

As far as wealthy, well there are never guarantees, but as the management team notices the improvements, one would hope there would be something in it for everyone!
